    MSysDb Error Message (2000)

    Hi,
While I was in my database yesterday and someone else tried to get in they got a repair message. I got everyone out, repaired the database and now when I try to open it, it is giving me the above error message that the MsysDb object is missing or spelled wrong. Anyway to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Deb

That sounds like a problem with your MDW workgroup file. Can you open it?

When I open the database I get that error message, click ok and Access stays open but my database will not open. On my computer when I open the .MDW file I get the following message: Cannot update. Database or object is read-only. This database is on a shared network drive.
    Thanks,
    Deb

The database has probably become corrupt. There are some things you can try to repair it, or to salvage as much as possible:

    - Download Jetcomp.exe from Jet compact utility is available in download center; this utility can sometimes repair databases that the internal 'Compact and Repair' cannot handle.
    - Create a new blank database and use File | Get External Data | Import... to import as many database objects from the problem database as possible.
    - Try to import the tables into Excel (Data | Get External Data | New Database Query...); the ODBC driver operates at a low level and may be able to get at the data. This won't retrieve other database objects (forms etc.)

If these fail, you are out of luck. Going back to the most recent non-corrupt backup you have is the best you can do then, but of course, you may have lost some data.

If you get that message on the MDW, then you may have a permissions issue on that network folder. You and other users must have full permissions so that the LDB file can be created and deleted. Has your system administrator changed any permissions? Have you checked to see if the MDW file is indeed read only? It shouldn't be.

Did you ever get this resolved, if so what was the fix?

    Thanks, John

    Deb
On the systems I work with I see this once in great while on user PC's. If I bring down a clean copy of the front-end file for that particular user it has solved the problem.
