    cell color (Excel 2003)

What formula can I use to set the cell fill color to yellow if a certain condition is met?
for example, if the date in cell A1 = 2004/11/01, then the cell fill color should be yellow
    Regards

You can use conditional formatting for this:
    - Select cell A1.
    - Select Format | Conditional Formatting...
    - Select "Cell Value Is" in the first dropdown.
    - Select "Equal To" in the second dropdown.
    - Enter =Date(2004,11,1) in the box next to it.
    - Click Format...
    - Activate the Pattern tab.
    - Click the color you want.
    - Click OK to close the Format Cells dialog.
    - Click OK to close the Conditional Formatting dialog.

    Thanks Hans
The problem is that I already have 3 conditional formats within the cell.
Any way of using an =if function. I might even have to resort to a vlookup.

It helps if you provide the relevant information when you ask a question instead of afterwards. See for example the thread starting at <post#=355924>post 355924</post#>.

    Yeah sure.
Is there a way of using an =if function to do the same thing?

Functions do not format a cell.
