Backing up Outlook personal folders (2000/02/03)

    I came across this article
How to automatically backup your personal folders file in Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2003
    and also
How to automatically back up your personal folders (.pst) file in Outlook 2002
which might be of interest to those who asked about PST backup recently.

I'm afraid I cannot vouch for either, because I am now in an Outlook-free environment...

They both work as advertised John. I've been using the tool since OL 2000.

This add-in requires that all other programs release any "hooks" they've made into your Outlook Personal Folders files before it will back them up. There are certain PDA synchronization programs and other tools that may need to be shut down before the backup add-in will work. You'll know right away if there's a problem: the add-in will delete your old backup, and then tell you it can't create the new one because your PST is in use. (Tested with Outlook 2000-2002.)
