Product Key ID Conflict (XP Pro/SP2)

Has anyone ever seen/heard of a program error "Product Key ID Conflict"? I've googled it and found nothing. A friend reported that they ran into this trying to use Media Player 10 and AOL dial-up (new installs) on a recently-reformatted machine with XP Pro SP2 installed. The XP Pro product key is legal and valid, but it's an older machine (P2-350, 512 RAM)

I've not seen this one, so obviously don't really know the answer. But here's a few things you could try. Since the machine is running, I assume that there were no problems or errors reported in getting it re-installed to SP2, right? Did the Media Player 10 download and install without errors? Has the re-installed version been activated? One quick thing to look at would be downloading a copy of the free Belarc Advisor which will show you the product key that's stored in the registry - compare it to what you have written down to make sure there wasn't a typo - probably impossible, but worth a check.
