Sections and Page Numbers (2003)

    Hi there
I have a number of section breaks in my document (to go from Portrait to Landscape) but this is messing up my page numbers quite a bit. I've removed all headers and footers, selected the entire document and added them again. I now have page numbers lesser than the previous page (e.g. 51 after 52). Please help!?
    Thanks

Re: Sections and Page Numbers (2003)

Hi, Rhonda. At some point in the editing process various sections were designated to "start at page #." While tedious to correct, it can be fixed.
    1.
Starting at the beginning of your document

Click Edit / Go To and in "Go to what" change it to Section and click on Next

Click in the document (the go to dialog will stay up but don't worry about it)

Click Insert / Page Numbers / Format button

Activate "Continue from previous section"

Click OK, and then Close (do not click the second OK or it will insert the number)
Continue on by going to each subsequent section and resetting the numbering to continue until you've hit all sections.

    Good luck!
    Karen

Long time ago I posted a macro or two that might speed up the resetting of continuous page numbering. Check out <post#=216424>post 216424</post#>.

Thank you very much! Could I assign this macro to a button and mail to others to use as well?

Yes, you can assign a button to it. It's easiest to do this just for yourself by saving it in the "default" Normal.dot template. If you wanted to share it with others with the button, it's easiest to save the macro and create the button in an ordinary document and share that.

Note: users must have Medium or Low macro security in order to use a macro shared in that way. Medium generally is best (you get the "Enable" or "Disable" dialog when you open the document.)

If you are in the IT department, you have lots more options.
