    Slow Shut Down (XP Home)

What might be the probable cause of a very long delay in shutting down XP? This occurs only after the computer has been on for several minutes. The delay is normal if the computer has only been on a short time.

As soon as you boot up, Ctrl_Alt_Delete and choose Task Manager and see how many processes are running. Keep watching and see if it climbs and try and spot what processes are being added.

My friend with the slow shut down problem has informed me that Gateway has recognized the problem as occurring with XP SP2, and they are researching it. It will be interesting to hear about the result.

Look here: Windows Problem Solver. There an SP-2 section that has lots of good information.
