    WordPad

While working in WordPad, when you click File-->Open, is it possible to have it open in a specific folder rather than My Documents? Or, have a specific folder come up when you saving a file? I never save files in My Documents and want to save time by having the folder where I usually open and save just come up without always having to go to it.

I see where I can to it in Word, but it sure would be nice I could find out how to do this in WordPad, if it's possible. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for your suggestion but it's not working. This is what I did. I found the WordPad shortcut in c:windowsstart menuprogramsaccessories. I right clicked, selected Properties and in the Start In text box typed d:Barb which is where I want to save documents created in WordPad. For the test,I opened WordPad and tried to save and My Documents folder still shows up.

    Re: WordPad

Instead of changing the properties for WordPad, you change the properties of My Documents by right-clicking My Documents on the Desktop and changing the Target.

The reason I wasn't sure that this would help, is that it permanently changes the target folder for My Documents.

You're wonderful!! I tried it and it worked just the way I want it to. Thank you ever so much. As far as permanently changing the target, couldn't I just go back and change the target back to cesktopMy Documents and have it work. I'll try it tomorrow. Thanks again anyway.

You're right--you can change it back anytime, but then the change affects saving in WordPad, too. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
