    File Hyperlink in a Table (Access 2000)

    How do I make a field in a table a hyperlink to files instead of a hyperlink to a webpage?

    You can type the path and the filename in the hyperlink field. See attachment.
    Or do I miss something ?

    BTW Can you edit your profile ? Maryland is not in Thailand I suppose. Thanks.

    Probably this goes far beyond what you want to do but... FWIW: depending on what your goals are, you could head into a more normalised file data structure as well, like
    tblYourTable = YourFileIndependentData + IDfile
    tblFiles = IDfile + name + extension + YourFileDependentData + ... + IDdirectory
    tblDirectories = IDdirectory + path (1) + ...
    (1) or self join: name + IDParentDirectory
    and then use a query & code to rebuild the full path & open the files where-ever required.
    I've been thinking about applying such a structure myself once, but in the end I bounced back on the extra development required & the hierarchical data handling issues.
