Are you saying even after you reboot they're still highlighted?

When you are at your desktop hit the "Print Scrn" key (upper right, next to the F12 key). Then open your favorite image manipulation program, like Paint or Paint Shop Pro and paste it as a new image. Resize as needed to fit the Lounge standard (100kb maximum) and size constraints, save as a .gif or .jpg and then attach it to your next post (after you have finished writing and previewing it).

Hi, It looks like you have lost transparent icons, right click my computer icon and choose properties, advanced, performance, visual effects and see if "show translucent selection rectangle" is ticked. Cheers GWS.

Yep, that works. It doesn't appear as though your icons are all highlighted. Just that the text below each one is in it's own text box, similar to an older version of Windows. Is the box the same color as your desktop background color ??? GWS seems to have a solution, but I'm not 100% sure that it is the setting that will change this. Give it a go and post back with the results.

I checked visual effects and they are all ticked....The highlighting is in it's own box and is a darker blue......Maybe I should just "Restore to an earlier time" to fix it.....That would probably work but I would like to know what is going on.

Try unticking the box and re-boot. Then reverse the procedure. For whatever reason sometimes with Windows changes don't seem to take unless you re-boot.

Try reading this Microsoft page. Sounds like maybe you made a change to active desktop that's causing the problem. Might it be the picture of the fishies?
