    USB drive mapping(?)

Is there a way to map a USB drive to a permanent ID in Windows XP(ex. W so that all other users that may log on and use a USB drive will have it show up the same? Have tried the Disk Management in Computer Management under Administrative Tools and it works okay if you use the same USB drive. If you use a different USB drive, it defaults to next available drive slot (D:, E:, etc.). <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>

I assume you are talking about a pocket stick USB device, NO you can not as each system will see a different device as a NEW device.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

If you have an external USB drive and you use the icon in the system tray to remove the drive, then replace with another drive, the drive letter should remain the same,

Yes, I am referring to a pocket (thumb, pen) drive. I was afraid of that, but thank you for your input.
