    Win XP/2kBoot.ini (XP SP2, )

    I screwed up
    Had XP working well but needed to get 2K going on same machine ie multi- boot
    Was installing 2k but was getting annoyed by the small partition (8 meg) left from my primary drive so formatted it while I was at it. Rebooted as part of the 2K install and had lost my multiboot (I also have SBS 2003 installed on another drive to test it.)
    Windows has now set the boot drive to be the small 8 meg drive and I cant get into anything but the 2k machine on boot.
    My (handcrafted (and presumably wrong boot ini is
    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(2)WINNT
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(2)WINNT="Microsof t Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)WINDOWS="Window s Server 2003 for Small Business Server" /fastdetect
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Micros oft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect .
    Every option tries to boot to a win2k process and all but the actual 2K fail as unable to find boot files
    The drives/partitions are now set as:
    Disk 0-Partition 1=30 gig XP -NTFS-System(now G: was C<img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
    Disk 0 -PArtition 2=35 gig NTFS (E<img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
    Disk 0 -PArtition 3=7 mb FAT- This is the offending partition but I am scred to delet and make things worse
    Disk 1-Partition 1-75 gig NTFS Empty
    Disk 1-Partition 2 24Mb- not formatted
    Disk 2-Partition1 30gig NTFS SBS2003
    Disk2-Partition 2 45gig NTFS Boot (this is the working win2k partition)
    Disk 3- USB drive 102 Gig - NTFS -working fine as data storage disk
    HELP!!!

    Re: Win XP/2kBoot.ini (XP SP2, )

    Fixed - Did an XP re-install (normal start from XP CD , let it find exisiting installation and choose R for Repair - takes ages but much less time than a reinstall
