    Count (A2K)

    Good Afternoon Everyone!

I will do my best to explain myself, excuse me, if I fail.

My table hold dates (a date field). A specific date may have many activities associated with it. i.e. 11/8 has 91 associated records, 11/9 has 103, etc.

It may be however, that there isn't any data for, in this case, 11/10.

On a report, I would like to do an avg of the days. Number of activities/Number of days. Somehow, I need to find a way to show, in this case there were 194 activities and 3 days. The normal work week would be 5, in a formula I could simply put a count field in for txtDate then something like: txtDate/5. However, due to the fact that maybe the office is closed, like for Thanksgiving, the avg. wouldn't be accurate. Not sure how to get the count or the group of the DATE.

In other words, I only want a 1 count of each day? I hope I was clear.

    Thanks,

    Re: Count (A2K)

You need to group your report by date. If you already have a group header and/or footer for the date, that's fine, otherwise, you will have to create one. You can set its Visible property to No if you don't want it displayed. Put a text box in the group header or footer with Control Source =1 and with Running Sum set to Over All (in the Data tab of the Properties window). Name this text box txtDateCount.

If you refer to txtDateCount in the report footer, you will get the number of distinct dates. So you can compute the average number of activities per day as

    =Count(*)/[txtDateCount]
