    MSKB article question (excel 2000)

In MSKB article 273583 on improving Pivot Table performance there is this statement: "To conserve memory, close the workbook that contains your original data, and create the Pivot Table in a separate workbook." I don't quite understand. If I have a sheet DATA that is the basis for the PT, and create a PT from that, how do I then close the workbook with the PT ? Thanks.

You do not close the sheet with the PT, you close the sheet with the "original data". The Pivot table sheet has external references to the source data
