Viewing Shared Address Book (Outlook 2003)

My manager has two address book in her Contacts. She shared both with me. When I am writing an e-mail, I cannot view these. I click on the To button and then click on the drop-down list under the heading 'Show name from list', but hers are not there. I only see the company's and mine. How can I view her address books when writing an e-mail?

Have you right-clicked on the folder, chosen Properties and then chosen "Show this folder as an Outlook Address Book"? HTH

Yes, I double-checked this on her computer and it is checked. She can see the address book. Just not me.

It has to be checked on your computer too. The reason that she can see it is because it is checked on hers. HTH

I do not have that option, when I right-click on her address book. I can get properties, but there is no 'show this folder as an e-mail Address book' checkbox.

From the sound of it, this option has been turned off at the e-mail server. I suggest that you have a word with your IT Admins to see whether it is possible for this otpion to be turned on for you. HTH

unkamunka, any idea exactly what Server option this is (that is, exactly what do we ask our Server Admin to do)? I think it was Trish Krokosh who suggested this approach in the past, but I couldn't reproduce it in my corporate environment.

Re: Viewing Shared Address Book (Outlook 2003)

In Exchange 2003, my reading of the situation is that the permission is set in the Active Directory under Mailbox Rights for the Manager. It appears that the OP has Read rights. For her to use it as an Address Book, it appears she would have to have Change rights. This may also be the case for Exchange 2000. I cannot comment on Exchange 5.5. HTH
