Business Contact Manager (2003)

    Hi
I want to get to grips with the Business Contact Manager and use it as a customer relationship management package for small business. I can't find any books on it. Can anyone recommend a good in depth book on this topic? Does Outlook 2003 Special Edition cover the Business Contact Manager?

Going to Google and entering the following in Search

microsoft outlook business contact manager reference book

brings up 163,000 hits. Many of them will have only a passing reference to the Business Contact Manager, but you should be able to find something that matches your requirements.

Thanks for the reply. The difficulty is they don't indicate whether it is just a passing reference to BCM or whether it is covered in more depth. I'll investigate more.

(Edited by JohnBF on 02-Dec-04 12:21. )
Within Microsoft, here is the Microsoft product description, clicking here will open a Word document about BCM, this link will give you some BCM update information, and this link will give you some BCM KB Articles. And one more.

Lots of info to absorb - thank you. On a cursory look I was concerned to see that you can't synch the Outlook with handheld devices once the Business Contact Manager has been installed. (Article ID : 870711 ). That makes it not a good option for me at all - is there any way round this?

Sorry, I don't use BCM, partly because when I went to play with it I had installation problems and abandoned it, partly because I don't have a need for a true Business Contact Management system. However, the KB you refer to seems only to address Pocket PC and Microsoft Windows Mobile devices, it doesn't mention Palm OS devices. If you have a Palm OS, go to the synch software website (most likely Chapura PocketMirror or IntelliSync) and see if there are any issues with BCM.

    Hi Alice,

Just wondered if you ended up installing BCM and if so what your experience with it was
