Palm m100 series bulk record changing

    (Part 2 of 2.)

I just got my first Palm, an m105, so I may very well be missing some key information (since I haven't read much of the 219 page Handbook yet, see this post).

On first synching of all records from Outlook, I see that all my Outlook-Private records are marked Private in the Palm. That's OK. So I create Business and Personal categories, because I want to move all Outlook-Private to Palm-Personal. Is there a bulk way to move them between categories, or do I have to one-by-one?

And, am I going to have hassles with Outlook resetting the Palm-Private switch, or the Palm resetting Outlook's Private switch, when synching in the future?

(So much to learn, so little capacity.) TIA,

Rupert, thank you, this helps me organize Outlook better, but Palm Pilot ... I'm not sure.

But why move them on the palm when you can move them in outlook?

Ah, the answer is embarrassing. Because I didn't have the categories set up in Outlook in the first place! Which I'm fixing as we post. And discovering that editing OL categories is a nuisance, and Palm Categories have limited length. Oh boy! Thanks for your help.

BTW I prefer "Address View", but I have it modified so that it shows only, and all, telephone numbers.

    Thanks,

I hate to have to say this, but the telephone list is still the solution! Just click on the contacts you want to be in a particular category, this time holding down the ctrl key. Once you have selected say 10 or 20 records right click and select categories, you can then make a bulk change to the categories selected. (Or even unselect). But again I must warn you, if, while you are clicking, you MOVE a contact you are on and you

I agree that the phone list view is the best way to manipulate the data in bulk, and that's how I have done it, but for display & lookup I prefer my customized address book (phone numbers only) view. Thanks,
