    Firefox vs IE (FF 1.0)

(Edited by Leif to make link live - please see the quick guide and/or <!help=19>Help 19<!/help>)

Admittedly Firefox is new. But how come on some text pages ( http://www.prettywitty.com/takingsides.html as an example) I get some group of ASCII code garbage wherever there is supposed to be an apostrophe?

Doesn't happen on IE or NetCaptor for that matter.

Is it something I need to adjust?

    .Regards,
    Chuck Billow

Try playing around with your character encoding (View > Character encoding) - for example, setting the Autodetect to universal.

    Hi Leif:
What setting is that? (Not that I'm having trouble with the Lounge, so I should leave well enough alone.) These are the options that I see. Can I do better?

    Whoops. <img src=/S/blush.gif border=0 alt=blush width=15 height=15> No, FF 0.9.2. I think it's time to upgrade. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

Thanks, Jefferson. I read <post#=433046>post 433046</post#>, so I'll be careful.

Re: Firefox vs IE (FF 1.0)

When installing FF 1.0 it is best to perform a clean install including deleting old profiles. The recommended procedure is shown in the MozillaZine forums

Strange - I've upgraded three systems and not lost my bookmarks...

    I guess I should have had you do mine, too. <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15>

Actually, it went swimmingly from 0.9.2 to 0.9.3 to 1.0PR. It was only going to the released version that killed me. And it could have been an installation glitch rather than a fault in the installer. But...

Thanks, Tony. I'll back up my profiles, but perform a clean install. I can always add my bookmarks back later.
