    Can you print a list of style properties? (Word 2003)

    Hi

    I've prepared a number of templates and need to produce a style guide that people can have for reference. Does anyone know of a way that I can print a list of all styles and their properties, rather than having to go through and note them down manually?

    Many thanks!

    Claire

    Here's a simple Macro that will create a list for you. It will replace the content of your current document, so don't run it when you have a vital unsaved piece of work.

    StuartR

    <code>Public Sub ListStyles()
    Dim styNext As Style
    Dim tblStyleTable As Table
    Dim i As Integer

    Set tblStyleTable = ActiveDocument.Tables.Add(Range:=ActiveDocument.Co ntent, _
    NumRows:=ActiveDocument.Styles.Count + 1, NumColumns:=2)

    i = 1
    With tblStyleTable
    .Cell(1, 1).Range.Text = "Name"
    .Cell(1, 2).Range.Text = "Description"
    For Each styNext In ActiveDocument.Styles
    i = i + 1
    .Cell(i, 1).Range.Text = styNext.NameLocal
    .Cell(i, 2).Range.Text = styNext.Description
    Next styNext
    End With

    End Sub</code>

    Select File | Print...
    Select Styles in the Print dropdown near the lower left of the dialog.
    Click OK.

    The printout from <!post=HansV's post,432616 >HansV's post<!/post> (Print what: Styles) for a particular document has 20 styles. The VB from <!post=StuartR's post,432613 >StuartR's post<!/post> (Replace document text with Styles table) produces a document listing of ~ 200 styles, most of which are not invoked in the document. (All styles available in Normal.dot?)

    I need a document (not a printout) that has a Styles table like StuartR's, but with data like HansV's printout. Thanks!

    The InUse property of a style indicates whether a style has been used in the current document. You could modify Stuart's code as follows:

    For Each styNext In ActiveDocument.Styles
    If styNext.InUse Then
    i = i + 1
    .Cell(i, 1).Range.Text = styNext.NameLocal
    .Cell(i, 2).Range.Text = styNext.Description
    End If
    Next styNext
