    Inserting multiple rows (2000)

Anyone ever had to insert more than 1 row into a worksheet, and found yourself continuously keystroking Edit-Insert-Row, Edit-Insert-Row, Edit-Insert-Row, etc. (you get the picture, especially if your goal is to insert a great many)? How can you do this "in one fell swoop" instead of many many key strokes of inserting one row at a time? That is, does Excel offer a technique to insert a user-defined number of rows?
    Thanks.

    1. If you select a number of rows, the Insert | Rows menu option will insert the number of rows you selected.

    2. The keyboard shortcut for inserting cells/rows/columns is Ctrl+Shift+=

    3. If you prefer to use the mouse, select Tools | Customize.
    Activate the Commands tab.
Select Insert in the list of Categories.
Select Rows in the list of Commands, and drag it to one of the toolbars.
    Close the Customize dialog.

You can now select some cells, and click the Insert Rows button. This will insert as many rows as the selection contains.

Also, after you insert a row using any of these methods, you can press F4 to repeat the insert as many times as necessary.

Thanks, Hans. Yes I was aware of these avenues; I just didn't kow if there was something else I wasn't aware of!

If you want to insert 100 rows "in one fell swoop" select 100 rows, right click with your cursor in the row numbers and select Insert. Voila! 100 inserted rows

A final addition: highlight the relevant number of rows - either by clicking in the left-hand margin (see <!profile=GoCush>GoCush<!/profile> or by entering Shift + SpaceBar, followed by the relevant number of Shift + PageDowns. Then enter Ctrl + += (or just Ctrl + + if you have a numeric keypad). HTH
