Change wallpaper through a network? (xp)

We have two computer on a network. I've set up file sharing on the other machine so I can upload and download image files. What I now want to do is change the wallpaper on that computer every few days without having to manually walk over to it.

    Suggestions?

    What about a manual approach?

I'm not sure I'd trust Webshots (I seem to remember something about spyware with regard to them) but the MS product is a possibility. Thanks. What I'm really looking for is a manual method for changing the wallpaper. I have a massive collection of photos, some of which make outstanding wallpaper. I want to impress my friend by throwing up a choice photo from time to time (like a snow scene on the first day we get snow).

Is this simply not possible across a network?

I'm thinking of one possibility, maybe this will tug a memory or two -- If the wallpaper is named WALLPAPER.JPG, I could simply over-write it with a modified version. Whaddaya say, gang?

Have you tried doing just that?

Did I try it? <sputter> That would actually require experimentation <shudder> and EFFORT!

Seriously though, that was a late night thought and I didn't have an opportunity to try it. I remember that w95 used to convert the image into a BMP and store it in the Windows directory, I wasn't sure if that was the case with XP. I'll check it out tonight.

The desktop background picture is indeed stored as a bmp (whatever the original format), but in the user's profile, so that each user can have his/her own wallpaper:

    Cocuments And Settings<username>Local SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftWallpaper1.bmp

Instead of Cocuments and Settings<username>, you may be able to use %userprofile%

I've never had a spyware issue (that I'm aware of) with Webshots. Why don't you look at something like RealVNC to allow you access to the other PC desktop?
