Sync Problem (2003)

For several years I have synchronised my pocket PC with Outlook 2003 on my desktop using Microsoft ActiveSync with no problems. Suddenly I get an Outlook message box claiming 'Synchronisation cannot be started because you are not able to log onto the network and access information.......'.
I can explore to my Pocket PC & see the files on it so there doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.
It's not the SP2 firewall 'cos I get the same problem with the firewall turned off.
If anyone can shed any light I would be most gratefull.

What other firewall are you running?

Only the hardware one in my router. I haven't made any changes to either firewall that I know of that may be causing the problem.

Some updates will !

From another site

My Active Sync shows an error message "Synchronisation cannot be started because you are not able to log on to the network and access information..." Someone told me that the so-called *.pst file on the desktop PC is defect and it may be repaired with the scanpst.exe
Tool scanpst.exe tries to correct any defects in the *.pst file, as good as possible, but it is not able to solve all problems. In this case, a repair attempt is made and the file is revised. But this does not necessarily have to do with the actual defect in the *.pst file. After synchronisation, the original error reappears and prevents any further synchronisation. In this case, it is necessary to create a new and empty *.pst file and copy all entries (notes, dates, etc.) from the old (defect) *.pst file into the new file.

This file should be found at "C:Program FilesCommon FilesSystemMSMAPI1033SCANPST.EXE"

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

Re: Sync Problem (2003)

Sadly not a solution. I tried synchronising with a freshly created empty .pst file & got the same problem.

Its not the cradle & leads 'cos I tried another known to be working.

Whimsically, I can synchronise from my networked laptop with the same cradle, Pocket PC & MS ActiveSync 3.7.1.

I can't see anything different between the 2 setups.

Thanks again for your interest; any other suggestions?

If you have changed PST files then you do NOT have the correct settings, it is still looking for the old PST file.
You need to delete the old partership and define a new one.
