    'Fly-overs' (IE 6)

How do I stop those interminable pictures, ads, etc. that float over your page when browsing? Some are ads that lead to pages you don't want to go to, others are just "info".

Either way, I want to shut them down...

    Chuck,
Try a free trial of Intermute's "AdSubtract".
It will eliminate most or all ads, popups, referrers, banner ads and other things like that. It's easy to use and setup and does a good job.
    Download it at AdSubtract

Long ago, there was a time when men cursed and beat on the ground with sticks. It was called witchcraft.
    Today it is called golf!

I've started seeing those at Dell.com, a panel "splashes" open for a few moments and then slides away. I'm not sure if there is a reliable way to detect and block these things, but if you have a good experience with AdSubtract or other software, please post back.

    Jefferson:

'Tis the good news and the bad news:

The good news is that I found a way to block popup/popunders and banners/skyscrapers. The bad news? It's Zone Alarm (I have the paid version). I had the prog from using it before, and had remembered something about that... Went back, re-installed and looked again, and there are settings on the "Privacy" tab to shut such things down... And it seems to work well...

I had had issues before with ZA being finicky when setting it up, and gave it up out of frustration... But I'm giving it another shot.

Anybody else have any feedback, it would be welcomed...

    Regards,
    Chuck Billow
