Blank emails (Outlook 2003)

I often get blank emails - totally blank, no subject, no address to or from, no details.
I don't know what they are or where they come, I can only assume they are some form of malevolent device.
Is there any way to render these automatically to the delete folder? Outlook's options don't seem to cover emails that are totally devoid of any text at all.

    Thanks in advance.

Assuming it is the same as 2000/2003:
Open the email, then View > Options. This will show you the routing information which the email *must* have to reach you.
If by chance it opens up a window titled "Message Options", it sounds like unsent messages *from* you that have been started but never sent.

(Edited by jscher2000 on 08-Dec-04 15:10. Typo in image, replaced image.)
Here's a potential strategy. Set up the Rules Wizard to examine all small messages, say 2KB or less in size, and move them to the Junk Mail folder if there is no From or Subject heading in the Internet Headers. (If you open a message and choose View>Options..., you'll find that most of these weird "broken" messages do not have From: or Subject: in there, while all normal messages have at least one of them.) I've set up this rule, and will report back any results, but it might take me a week or so to see whether it is working. I'd be interested in your results, too, since you get many of these.

I got a "blank headers" message today and the rule worked.

    WARNING REGARDING AN EXCHANGE ENVIRONMENT

The "Message Headers" field for an internal message in an Exchange environment is completely blank. As originally conceived, the above rule will junk many of your colleagues' messages to you. To work around this, add a second condition to the rule: In addition to being a small message, require that it contain the name of your mail server in the Message headers (this text is obvious from any external message you receive). Then the rule only will be applied to messages from outside your company, and all will be well.
