    Partition Magic unallocated space?

I just got a new HP Compaq laptop and I am intending to use Partition Magic to divide the disk. It shows 8MB of unallocated space after the C: drive. Perhaps this is related to the Restoration cd's that came with the computer? I am not sure how to handle this when I create the d: drive. Do I leave 8MB of unallocated space after the d: drive? Is there any data in that unallocated space that I need to worry about?

    Thanks

This might be the setup partition that Compaq laptops and PCs usually have, but 8MB sounds rather small. How does the space appear in Disk Manager?

It does not show up in Disk Management.
Shows the C: drive and nothing else.

Very strange. If Disk Manager doesn't even show this 8MBytes as empty space then I would be a bit nervous of using Partition Magic to make changes to it. Are you running the latest version of PM?

I called Compaq and they said it is there for use with the utility to reinstall drivers. They said it is OK to delete it, I can still run that utility with the drivers that are stored on the recovery CD.
