transfer account settings (2000/SP3)

I successfully moved my outlook.pst file from a Win2k laptop to an XP Pro desktop; however, my account settings didn't make it.

Any tips or insights would be deeply appreciated!

Re: transfer account settings (2000/SP3)

Since the two computers are not networked, I'm unable to benefit from the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard.
What shall we try next

You could use the same method you used to transfer your pst from one computer to the other.

Re: transfer account settings (2000/SP3)

That's true; however, I don't know what my account settings are
I mean, how do I get the e-mail account settings to transfer?

Can you not use the FSTW to create a local file with your settings, copy that to CD or whatever you used to transfer your pst, take the CD to the new pc.....

If the old computer in question had the FSTW, yes, I could; however, the old computer runs Win2k Professional.
Or am i overlooking something

Re: transfer account settings (2000/SP3)

According to this page at HelpWithWindows.com you are!

To start the File and Settings Transfer Wizard, run Setup.exe from the Windows XP CD-ROM on your old system. This system can be running any of the following operating systems: Windows 95, 98, 98 SE, Me, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 or Windows XP. From the Setup menu choose Perform Additional Tasks. On the next screen choose Transfer files and settings.

Full instructions appear to be there.

Re: transfer account settings (2000/SP3)

Make yourself an installation disk, get yourself a null modem cable or make a wizard disk.

There is plenty of information out there which Google easily finds if you search for <files settings transfer wizard windows 2000>, but if none of the above are suitable, it would probably be quicker to note down all the settings and manually re-enter them
