Graphic in signature (Outlook 2003/SP1)

If I have a graphic image in my signature, such as a company logo, I get this message: "Your current security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on this page. As a result, the page may not display correctly", and the image does not appear. I can't seem to figure out what setting is causing this.

Also - logo appears with no problem if using "rtf". Only get the error if using HTML. With the logo, I am not using it has a hyperlink - though I want to which is why I want to use html instead of rtf.

Is your graphic image a JPG? JPGs have been the subject of some internet scares recently. If so, can you try opening it in a graphics program and then saving it in, say, GIF or PNG format? Perhaps the problem will not persist. HTH

If you open the .htm file from the signatures folder in Wordpad, what code do you see? The most straightforward would be a link similar to the following:

But if you see <EMBED> or <OBJECT> then you will trigger an ActiveX warning.

By any chance did you create the signature in Word? If so, I probably can't help, other than to say that you can convert an embedded Paint or Photo Editor object to a plain picture by selecting it and choosing Ctrl+Shift+F9.

The following two things together seem to make this work. 1. Use a tif file instead of jpg. 2. Use RTF instead of html. With html, I don't get the prompt when the signature is added, but the picture is blank,

Using incompatible RTF and inefficient TIFF files are not very good workarounds. <img src=/S/sad.gif border=0 alt=sad width=15 height=15> Most signatures featuring embedded graphics are HTML format messages, so I know you can make it work. But you might have to hand-edit your signature file to clear out the offending content.
