    Anti-Virus Recommendation

I am looking for a recommendation on anti-virus software. I have heard good/bad things about Norton's anti-virus software and I am at a point where comparing vendors is just causing confusion.

    Thanks,
    John

I use Norton's and have been since the early DOS days. I do NOT use the Suite as there is way to much JUNK in the other programs. At one time I did use the Suite as it was very good, but since Norton's was bought out, it has become "Bloat ware", but NAV is still worth it.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

I use F-Prot and have for many, many years. It is a solid engine, usually updated daily (sometimes more often) and has been an industrial strength AV since the DOS days. It doesn't seem to have any of the conflicts with other software that NAV seems to have, and I highly recommend it.

If you are interested in <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> for home use programs check out AVG and Avast. I have used Avast for more than two years and have no complaints. Used AVG before that and if I recall corectly was having a bit of a problem with it and XP at the time. Besides which I just wanted to try something different.

Trend Micro's PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 has received good reviews. We use Trend Micro's corporate products (and we do some legal work for the company). Not too many retail outlets seem to carry anything other than Norton, McAfee and maybe Panda, so you may end up ordering from the web. There's a $25 rebate for U.S. purchasers those who previously used Norton or McAfee products.
