Display item in different col (MS Office 2003)

In Excel I have two coloumns. In Col B contains number and in Col C it might contain either a Y or blank. How can I force Col B to not display unless Col. C contain a Y?

is column B a hard key number? Or is it the result of other cells?

You could hide it using cond formatting, by formatting the text color to match the background color. Unless they are both black or both white, the contents would still print on most printers however, but would look "blank" on the screen. When you select the cell you still will be able to see the contents.

This technique would be "live" and changes whenver C would change.

Use as the condition a formula like:
    =upper(C1)<>"Y"
and change the format as desired.

In cell B1, you could put a formula like this (if the number you want to display is 1234 when C1 is Y).

=IF(UPPER(C1)="Y",1234,"")
