Shared Network Printer Shows Twice (XP Home)

How does one purge a duplicate printer in the control panel's printers & faxes. I have tried just deleting the duplicate printer but nothing happens. I still have two showing.. The printer is a shared printer on another computer accessed via a workgroup.

    Thanks,
    John

Windows XP will find ALL shared printer(s) that are on the peer-to-peer network.
If you see one starting with "Auto" it a one that was found by the OS. If you were to delete the one with out the "Auto" then you should NOT have two of them.

    Dave,

Your suggestion should work but I can not delete those not marked with "Auto".

That is right, you need to delete the ones with OUT the auto.

Also if you have two computers with the same model of printers attached, then you will also see both.

Give us a screen shot of your printer listings on the troubled machine.
