For BerylM, compliments of PC

    Hi Beryl

PC finally got round to rewriting her "Mousetrap and Key Jam" program in VB6, so here it is attached if you're still interested. She was actually playing with some nested API calls in C++ and thought such a rewrite might be a good candidate test program for a few techniques.

She also thought you might like to use your own cat photo, so all you have to do is to save your picture as a (approx) 176w x 344h JPEG image. Name it cat.jpg and place it in the same folder as moustrap.exe (replace the existing one if appropriate). I'd be interested if anyone who has a play with this encounters any issues. It's only been tested on 98, and I think that NT may not support all the API methods used, in the same way as Win98 does.

If you recall, it's just a quickie to enable hassle-free cleaning of mouse or keyboard, without the problem of mouse movements and clicks or keyboard presses playing havoc with the desktop or running apps. All mouse/ keyboard activity is "captured" by the mousetrap application.

PC says you can have it free for Xmas .

Alan, please thank PC for me - that is so kind of her! I won't be in a position to download it until after Christmas now, but I look forward to 'opening' my 'present' then!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and PC, from me and my feline family (Jessie, Jaffa and Jinks)!

And merry Christmas to you and your felines from me and mine - PC and Puss (shown here after a hard day, catching some rest and relaxation in their "moccasins").

Thanks, Alan - which one's which?! I like the look of the longhaired one, particularly; is it a pedigree or a longhair moggie?

PC is the girl on the left - moggie with some British blue, we believe. Puss ("the sheep") is the boy on right - pedigree long-haired silver chinchilla. Both adopted - PC appeared on our front fence 7 years ago as of last night, having been dumped in the park opposite, 9 months old and pregnant second time round. We took in Puss from our friend, now deceased, who developed pancreatic cancer. We think he's about 9 or 10. Puss can't program though - pretty well computer illiterate, in fact.

Well, they're both gorgeous, and although I love Puss's looks I don't envy you the task of keeping him groomed!

One of the reasons why I like the Maine Coon so much - they have the longhair's looks but don't need a fraction of the care! Jinks is a coon - there are plenty of pictures of him around here (!) but his site is Jinks the Cat if you haven't seen him before - and I often go weeks without grooming him with no problems!

Jaffa is a 'Heinz 57' ginger shorthair moggie and Jessie a more-or-less black shorthair moggie with a lot of exotic (shorthair persian) in her, giving her a thick plush coat. The moggies are both shown on the 'About Us' page of Jinks' site).

I adore Maine coons, although I've never lived with one, since all my current crew have all adopted me or were abandoned orphans that I adopted. I used to work for a fellow who raised coons, and it astonished me how a half grown "kitten" could be much larger than an ordinary adult housecat. Since I like cats of all sizes, it wasn't the size that stopped me, only the space!

Yep , Puss is hard work. We tend to mulch the garden and pathways heavily, utilizing all of our garden waste. Puss extends the environmental mindset by transporting most of it into the house. He needs constant brushing. We have shorn him twice this year, and that's enough to stuff a small cushion with! The first time we clipped him we found three cat's claws amongst his fleece - trophies from past battles, no doubt.

I've seen the Jinks & Co. site before - very good.
