    Excel error (Excel 2003)

Have just installed Office 2003 over 2000 and Excel is producing the following error messages, both on opening and closing the program
"Compile error in hidden module: DistMon" and/or "Comple error in hidden module: AutoExecNew"
Anyone have suggestions what may have caused this error message and how I might correct it? Sure will appreciate a leg up on this one rather than going back to Microsoft for permission to over-install the program, which doesn't bring any guarantees of a fix either. Help please.....Kiwi-1

Try the suggestions in Jan Karel's <!post=Star Post,290455>Star Post<!/post>. Start with the suggestions concerning files in the XLStart directory as those are most likely to lead to a solution to your problem.

Leagare already pointed you to "the" tool to solve this kind of problem. In addition, MSKB article "Compile error in hidden module" error message when you start Word or Excel states that this error is related to the PDFmaker add-in in combination with Norton Anti-Virus.
