Eileen Wharmby

It is my sad duty to have to point you loungers to this message announcing the passing of Eileen.

I for one will miss her greatly.

All of you take care out there, have a great and safe festive season, and, as Eileen would have said: "Happy Lounging !"
Cheers, Claude.

Re: Eileen Wharmby

Those who have been around the lounge for some time will know Eileen as the brains and the driving force behid the longe- both in its latest incarnation (from almost exactly four years ago, December 23 2000) and in several previous incarnations.

She was very much a part of our family in the lounge. I never met her in person- but her passing meant more to me than many people who I have met face to face. We all came to know her well. Her genius with the computer was obvious in the Lounge- her surviving and thriving brainchild- but her wit and wisdom were also very much obvious.

She has been missed ever since her health enforced illness- but she would pop by very occassionally.

To her family- her husband and her children- our thoughts and prayers will be with you.

I will miss Eileen. She had an energy about her & set the tone for the Lounge many years ago. She is the one who recruited me as a WMVP. This Lounge would not be what it is today had she not been the driving force for many years. She wil always be part of us. My thoughts go out to her family.

I am very sorry to hear that. When I joined the Lounge, she was already into semi-retirement, but it was clear that she played an instrumental role in making the Lounge great. She will be missed greatly.

My thoughts are with her family.

I too will always remember "Mum" as one of the earliest "officers" of The Lounge with whom I had contact. She was understanding, fair minded and above all, a brilliant light shining over this place. I pray for the strength and endurance of her family. May she rest in peace with her fingers always on the virtual keyboard of Heaven.

What a sad, sad day.

Eileen didn't only create this place, she set the tone for future generations of loungers. The lounge has always been friendly and helpful, because wouldn't have had it any other way. She will remain in my thoughts for as long as I remain a lounger - and that is likely to be a very long time.

Re: Eileen Wharmby

I received this news with a heavy heart this morning.

As with most of us in the Lounge, although I never met Eileen in person, yet I felt closer to her than many whom I know on such terms. Eileen was ever-present and her passion ubiquitous, and she cared about us all - encouraging when needed, and keeping all of us in line when the situation called for it. It would be my educated guess that her family was quite lucky to have had her influence in their lives. I certainly know that I fall into that category.

My deepest condolences to the Wharmby family. Although nothing can ease the feelings of loss, it is my hope that knowing how positively she affected those of us in this community will imbue you with an ongoing sense pride. Eileen's spirit is everywhere in the Lounge and we will never forget her. Kyrie eleison in this your time of loss.

Warmest regards,
-Mark

This is to share my deep reverence with her family - and with those who knew her in all the other forms she made available.

May heart is with her family. Now that she is has gone to the Big Lounge In the Sky, she will have new duties. I know she will care for them as she did here.

I knew very little about Eileen, but I admired what she had done here. The really interesting things I learned about her came from Woody himself. He had the utmost respect and praise for her. Coming from him, that made quite an impression on me. She struck me as being the sort who toiled away for the benefit of others and the satisfaction of having made a difference. She will be sorely missed.

I don't even know what to say. My deepest sympathy to her biological and (very) extended family. She is the reason we're all here. She's the reason for all of this. What a wonderful legacy!! She will be missed deeply.

I hope will let me off a "me too" response just this once, but everybody else has put my feelings far more eloquently than I could. A sad day indeed.

I never had the privilege to know or converse with Eileen, but I certainly benefited from her presence when I first joined The Lounge almost four years ago. She was a grand individual and she will be sorely missed.

Perhaps, one of the gifted gifmeisters can add a halo to in memory of this talented person.
