Removal of mutilple choices of OS on startup (XP Home Edition)

I have just installed Win XP and for some reason l have a a multiple choice of OS on boot up.
One is a previous version of Windows the other is a version of XP (which did not install properly).
This leaves me with the problem of a timeout screen waiting for me to select a choice on startup.
Is is possible to autoselect a choice (i.e the working version of XP) without having to select it on startup.
As this problem increases the time it takes my PC to boot up.

Any assistance in this matter would be appreciated.

    Justin.
