    COUNTIF and blank cells

I'm currently counting cells down a column using:
    =COUNTIF(H3:H1027,"lookup")

"lookup" is simply a filler for the moment. I'd like to
be able to count all cells in this column that have a
value (not null). Can anyone help me?

    =COUNTA(H3:H1027)
will count al the non-blank cells that contain an entry (text or numeric)

    Re: COUNTIF and blank cells

You may want to use COUNTA instead of COUNTIF.
COUNTA counts the number of cells that are not empty and the values within the list of arguments. Use COUNTA to count the number of cells that contain data in a range or array.
