    Flash and Shockwave

These seem to be different players for Win2000... But everything I've been able to find shows the swf extension for both. Are they the same? If not, why the heck do they show them as the same, and if so, why the different players?

    Regards,

The article at http://www.howstuffworks.com/web-animation6.htm may help.

    Stuart:

No question I know more now than I did 45 minutes ago... I'm not sure though that I'm clearer on the file extension issue.

If SWF files are shockwave files, what are flash files? 'Cause when you install the two, they seem to "disappear" into the file extension morass...

You can get more information at Macromedia Flash File Format (SWF) Specification License. Poke around the site for even more.

    Joe:

OK, thanks... It DOES appear that the only really active member of the duo is Flash, and that Shockwave is being superceded...
