Re: copy and paste (office2002 widowsxp)

Your formula in B2 is circular, since it refers to B2 itself.

Try selecting B2, then double clicking the fill handle, that is the little black square in the lower right corner of the cell.

Have you tried my suggestion? If A2:A221 is filled, clicking the fill handle of B2 will automatically select B2:B221 and copy the formula down.

Re: copy and paste (office2002 widowsxp)

First, as Hans said in his reply, the formula "=if (B2=1,"Y","") that you had in your first message does not make sense if it is in B2 since it would have a circular reference. A formula should normally not have a reference to the cells the formula is in or to any cell dependant on the cell it is in. Therefore, I will assume, as Hans did, that the formula should have been "=if (A2=1,"Y",""). Your second message is also not clear as to what you want. It seem to indicate that the formula you want in all of the cells B3:B221 is "=if (A2=1,"Y",""). Is that correct, or do you want the reference to cell A2 to be adjusted to A3:A221 as the formula is copied down. If you want the cell reference adjusted (which from your workbook looks like what you want), then Hans' response does exactly that and you do NOT have to know what the end row is. Did you try it? If you really do not want the cell reference adjusted, then change the formula to"=IF($A$2=1,"Y","") and then follow Hans' instructions.
