OFFICE WORD 97

CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH MY WORD EDITING PROBLEM? SOMETIMES WHEN I INSERT A WORD INTO A SENTENCE IT TYPES OVER THE EXISTING WORDS IN THAT SENTENCE CAUSING ME TO RETYPE THE ENTIRE SENTENCE. THANKFUL FOR ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE.

Firstly please don't shout - caps are considered shouting. It sounds like you have the insert key turned on which means that Overtyping is on. Look to the right side of the Status Bar at the foot of Word and see if OVR is showing. If yes that is the problem. Press Insert to turn it off.

As a further note to Mike's post, to select insert as the normal mode click the Tools menu, Options, Edit tab and clear (uncheck) the tick box beside "Overtype mode" (5th item on the list).

Mike is also correct about the use of case in the body of messages. Welcome to the forum and enjoy!!
