    Partitions and Restoring

If this isn't the right board, I apologize... But it crosses a couple lines, and the overall is Win2K:

If I've backed up (imaged) my partition with Norton Ghost 9, and afterwards (last night) re-size my disk's partitions with Partition Magic, if and when I need to restore a partition, since the size has changed, (it is now larger that it was at time of ("ghosting"), will the present size hold, or will the restored partition restore the old size?

    Regards,
    Chuck

I don't use Ghost but I would hope you would get the opportunity to decide at time of restore. That was always the case with Drive Image and I would hope that Ghost performs in much the same way. One of the reasons for that is that one could make a backup image, install a LARGER drive and then restore to that drive.

    Chuck,

You should be OK. That is what many do when moving to a larger disk.

I don't use Ghost either, but just had a problem that forced me to restore an image created with Acronis True Image. This was the first time I had to do a restore and I was plesantly surprised to find that I could alter the size, up or down, of any partition on the drive before I restored the image. I would suppose, from what Al and Joe have said, that this is true of all the imaging programs.

    Guys:

    You're right...

Seems to do fine. Thanks for the help.
