Behaviour on deleting open email (OE6)

Trying to help a friend get started with computer in general and OE in particular. I notice that if you hit the delete button on an open email in OE, the program then opens the next message. Is there no way of getting it to return to the Inbox instead like you can in Outlook, which I am more accustomed to? (I've looked and can't find it, if it exists.)

No, not in Outlook Express. The work-around is to hit your Esc key. That closes the just read, open message but leaves it highlighted in your message list. Then hit your Del key and it's gone, which will automatically highlight the next message in your message list.
