    Enabling COM port 2

I am trying to enable COM port 2 on my PC as it appears disabled , is there a setting in the BIOS to enable this.

Could there be a fault with the I/O card on the PC , if the COM port 2 is enabled?

    Any assistance would be appreciated.

    Hi Justin

Yes, there should be a setting in the BIOS to enable it, though without knowing what type of mainboard/BIOS you have, it's difficult to tell you exactly where to look. It would usually be under something like 'Integrated Peripherals' or similar. COM1 & 3 would normally be set to share IRQ 4, and COM2 & 4 would share IRQ 3. Make sure sure both of these are enabled.

If you have no luck, can you let me know what you do find in the BIOS?

    Thanks.
