Delete Envelope Toolbar (Word 2000 SR-1)

I want to delete the email toolbar from a Word document. See attached jpeg. There is an option to email the document - I don't know how it got there. I found that there is a "envelope" toolbar ticked, but it will not let me toggle it off. Any ideas on how to delete this other than copy and pasting the whole thing into another document? Thanks Jacqui

Activate the Visual Basic Editor (Alt+F11)
    Activate the Immediate window (Ctrl+G)
Type ActiveWindow.EnvelopeVisible = False and press Enter.
    Switch back to Word (Alt+F11)
This only hides the mail header, though, it doesn't remove it.

Thanks for your help - but I can't seem to get it to do anything.

I'm using Word 2002 (aka XP) and it works OK there (in fact, there is a stabdard toolbar button in Word 2002 to toggle the mail header on and off). Let's hope that someone with Word 2000 reacts.

Is this associated with only this document. or do you get it with others? If it is only with this document, have a look in the document properties and see if there is a setting there that says the file is an email.

I just went spelunking and seem to have found a button that does what you require. You will need to add it to a toolbar before you can use it though.

    Choose Tools > Customize
Under the Commands Tab, choose the File Category
Find the command called 'Mail Recipient' and drag it to a toolbar other than the toolbar you want to hide.
Close the dialog and then click the button you added

    Does that work?

Tried that but the button is greyed out when I come out of customise mode. Seems to be locking me out of this option.

There must be a setting somewhere in the document that is locking this behaviour. Can you post the document here?

You might want to delete the contents first to remove any sensitive content.

No longer at work, so will have to wait until the end of the week. I am not sure if you will get the same problem. When I opened up the document online at home, the email toolbar was no longer there. I have set up a toolbar with macros attached and also an lock/unlock feature (maybe this is blocking something). Use the document as a form and lock fields that I don't want users to access. If I use the lock/unlock feature on the forms toolbar, it deletes all info in the form - hence me using a VB script to unlock/lock the feature.

Just a couple of thoughts while your waiting to post your document. If the document is a protected form, you can't run certain commands unless you unprotect the document or use on On Entry or Exit macro. Also, the problem of having all form data lost when you lock a form can be solved by following the suggestions at <A target="_blank" HREF="http://www.word.mvps.org/faqs/macrosvba/TurnFmFlfResetOff.htm">How to change the behaviour of Word's document protection, so users

Not sure if you will get all the linkages come across with the toolbars. Document posted. Also I will post a picture of the toolbars appearing on the document, along with the email toolbar. As I said before, when I opened the same document at home, the email toolbar disappeared. Thanks.

Very wide screenshot reduced in size by HansV - please don't post pictures over 640 by 480 pixels.

This is the picture of the screen. One thing with the word document I posted - I didn't lock it again.

I did get the toolbar when I opened the file and could turn it off with the button I described in a earlier post.

I also saved the file as an RTF and then when I opened the file the toolbar was removed. Can you try that and see if it cures that file on your machine.
