    Create Vertical Text (Word 2000)

My son is trying to create an "Acrosstic" for school. It's a word across with words below each letter of that word in vertical columns. I seem to recall being able to do this in Word '97 but can't find the way in 2000. Can someone point the way ??

You can rotate text 90 degrees to the left or right in a table cell (Format | Text Direction...)
If you want the letters to be upright but below each other, you can put the word in a very narrow table cell (hold Alt down while dragging the right hand edge of the cell), or just press Enter after each letter.

You can rotate text in both Table Cells and Text Boxes

When I needed to do something similar I simply used a table, with one letter per cell - filling in the letters like on a Crossword.

Thanks for that. I was having a bit of trouble with an "i" not wanting to move to a new line and this will solve that. Appreciate the prompt and through responses. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
