Mailwasher (freeware)

Does anyone know if Mailwasher still has a free version? I looked on their site but only found a free trial. All the Google hits took me back there too.

Second question. I have a free version 1.24 & was looking for a later free version. However, the filter seems to work the exact opposite as it says. In the blackened graphic below, I have my email address. However, it wants to delete EVERY email. Any idea what's happening?
Thanks,

Re: Mailwasher (freeware)

Well, doggone Phil, it looks like he has taken down the free version. The second link below "used to" lead to the location where the old, free version could be downloaded. I haven't visited either for quite some time, but I can't even find any mention of it. Sorry. FWIW, the paid version is worth the money.

Re: Mailwasher (freeware)

I installed MailWasher on a friend's machine but had to remove it because she had trouble managing it. I did not like the way it worked at all. I much prefer Junk-Out myself, so much so that I bought it for both home and work. But I'm running WinXP Pro on both machines and using Outlook.

Sorry to hear that you weren't pleased, Charlotte. But that's why they say "diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks" eh what? Mailwasher isn't hard to manage once you get it set up and it's really oblivious to what email client you use.

I just visited the link you posted for Mail Washer. On the left side of the page, I saw Download Free Trial. They either put it back or someone needs new glasses. Ha, ha. Just kidding Doc.

Re: Mailwasher (freeware)

That's OK. But just so you know - that's a free trial of the commercial version of his software. If you decide to keep it, you'll have to pay. What we were talking about is that, before he even had the "Pro" product, there was a freeware version which required NO payment at all. That's the link provided by Alan in <!post=his post.,442815>his post.<!/post>

No apology necessary. I just like to make sure that folks know and that MailWasher is one utility that's worth paying for (my opinion), although there are many others that may be free.

I agree 100%. You know the old saying that you get what you pay for. If you pay nothing, that's exactly what you get.......nothing. There are very few exceptions.

Re: Mailwasher (freeware)

You need to get out more! - you obviously haven't delved into the world of genuine, traditional ware. There you'll find the same spectrum of quality you experience with commercial products and shareware, ranging from superb right down to rubbish.

Thank you Alan for your support (smile). It's been my limited experience that frreware leaves much to be desired. I've found only one product that I'd stake my last dollar on. IIf you know of a couple, please point me to them.

There is a wide range of open source programs available some of the more famous being the Mozilla products and OpenOffice

There is some very good free software out there.
