    Re: Printer driver (Professional sp2)

Can you get a "Test Print" from Start -> Printers and Faxes, then double-clicking on your printer, then doing Printer -> Properties -> General -> Print Test Page?

This test page should tell you the driver name and driver version, near the bottom...

I'll try at lunch or tomorrow, and post back. Printer is at home, I'm at office. So far, I haven't been able to print a thing from the computer.

    To Rebel,

I cannot get your message. Could you send it to hsmithtx@earthlink.net or just post a how-to message.

    Thanks.

If you click on the PostBox link at the top of this page, you should be able to view all of your PMs. In any event, what I wrote you about was to suggest that you possibly remove your Home email address from your signature. Spammers love to harvest this type of information so they can add you to their lists.

    Printer driver (Professional sp2)

How do I find my printer driver? I have an older printer. After downloading an HP patch for XP, and, I think, installing it, how do I check what driver the printer, an HP 1100 Laser, actually has?
It still isn't printing from the computer (local test page works fine), but I really need to know the driver.

    Thanks.

    Re: Printer driver (Professional sp2)

To get the ACTUAL driver version or number, I found that SiSoftware Sandra is a utility that will do it. Others like Belarc Advisor or Evergreen don't seem to give you more than a more generic description of the printer driver itself.
Within SiSoft itself, click on "printers and faxes" and a few lines down in the info will be the driver info itself.

    Get a <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> copy at Sandra

Click on the Controls link at the top of the page. When the next page displays, click on the first "head" directly to the right of "Edit your setup". At the next page, scroll down to the signature section, delete your email address and then click on the "Submit" button.

You can get the latest HP driver by selecting the correct 1100 printer type here: download drivers & software - specify product name - HP Business Support Center. It looks to me as though they are from May 2002 version 4.3.2.201.

I believe that's the one I got. I downloaded it., double clicked, then clicked on the resulting .inf file. I'll check what actually happened when I get home.
