I quite like "Microsoft Excel2000 - Visual Basic for Applications Fundamentals" by Reed Jacobsen (Microsoft Press, 1999, ISBN 0-7356-0593-9). It's easy to read and gives a good, basic overview of possibilities.

    Re: Book on VBA

You can buy a book on VBA for Excel 2000. There is not so much difference. Excellent books are:
    1) Excel 2000 Power programming with VBA from John Walkenbach
    2) Excel 2000 VBA Programmer's reference from John Green

Both can be found at <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.amazon.com>http://www.amazon.com</A>. I would advise you to buy the first book. The second is for more advanced beginners.

    Karen,

You can also find some free stuff (courses) on the web. Try <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.appdev.com/newstuff/default.asp?NewPage=vbastuff.htm> appdev </A>. There must be others too.

Similar to Dana's answer, you may find the 97 version helpful. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://mspress.microsoft.com/books/341.htm>Microsoft Excel Visual Basic Step by Step</A>

Looks like the price is real low now too!

    FWIW
    The linke points to <A target="_blank" HREF=http://mspress.microsoft.com/books/341.htm>http://mspress.microsoft.com/books/341.htm</A>
