    Data changes across PC's or platforms (XP, sr2)

    I have a spreadsheet with numerous formulas. When emailed as attachment to another party, it opens and all appears well. When he saves it on his PC, zeros appear on some cells (replacing the original figures). I believe he is using XP but not sure. Any idea what might account for such a phenomenon?

    Are any of the formulas linked to books he does not have?

    Could you give us an idea of what the formula is in those cells that get converted?

    More info:

    File was created in Excel 2002; problem is being experienced in Excel 2000.

    Apparent action causing zeros is: saving file while in Outlook; and sometimes saving file to PC with another (simpler) name.

    There are NO external numbers or formulas used/accessed by this Excel file; it is completely self-contained.

    Not all cells are affected. A sample problem cell has the formula: =ROUNDUP($N$7/G12*$U$3,0) where

    N7 = number of people, e.g., 353
    G12 = number representing required ratio, e.g., 4
    U3 = another number, i.e., 2

    Result rounds up to 177 but, as stated, may change to zero when saved.

    If/When you reopen the file:
    Are any of the numbers being converted into text by outlook?

    Could you attach a sample file with some of the "problem formulas"?

    It turns out that formulas were being updated only when file was saved. I discovered how to change this setting under Tools >> Options >> Calculations from Manual to Automatic. That still doesn't explain the zero's, but the user is not able to replicate that phenomenon.
