Convert text in table to regular (Word 2000)

Is it possible to get the text from a table into a form that is regularly useable?

    Welcome to Woody's Lounge!

You can select an entire table (Alt + 5 on the numeric keypad), and select Table | Convert | Table to Text... to convert it to "normal" text. If that is not what you wanted, you'll have to define what you mean by "regularly usable".

Alt + 5 did not seem to work. to explain how I wanted to convert--the file I attached is picture of parts of 1930 blank census form and I wanted to use the headers in a document file and fill in the data. The copy of the census contains the data, but in a jpg format. The blank form which was used by the census taker is in a pdf format , from which I copied into the doc format, but that is in a table. I wish to have the form in a format into which I could fill the data. Thanks

Why can't you enter the data in the table format document?

If it is possible to enter text into the table in the doc format, I guess I don't know how.

I suspect that I am misunderstanding the situation. If you managed to paste the form as a table into a Word document, you can type in the cells in the table. If it is just a picture, however, you can't do much with it in Word.

Just elaborating a little on Hans' response, if all you've got are pictures of the tables, then there isn't going to be any practical way to enter text into them.

To get a usable form out of these, you'll need to recreate them from scratch in a new Word document; the best approach is to create a protected Word form using formfields set up in a table - it's not too hard to do.

Thanks, but I fear that the form (1930 Census) has so many headers with so much detail, that I would have difficulty creating from scratch.

I fear you have a problem then. There is no magic way to fill in data in a picture.

You can down load the forms in a Excel file from http://censustools.com/ then select download. Fill out the info including a valid email address and the different files will be emailed to that address.

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.
