Unwanted folder opening (XP Pro, SP2)

    Hi all,

Ever since I installed MS Plus! on this computer (Dell P4, 3Ghz cpu, 1G ram), I've had a problem with the System 32 folder opening every time I start the PC. I close it, but each time the PC starts, there it is again. It's annoying. Has anyone else experienced this, and do you have any advice for getting rid of it? Thanks much.

Re: Unwanted folder opening (XP Pro, SP2)

And if Hans' reference doesn't help you, you may be in for a little trial-and-error experimentation to find the answer. Way, way back, when I first installed XP I had this problem and the MS article didn't help me. But, it was suggested that I run MSCONFIG and start turning OFF things that were being run at startup to see if I could pinpoint the problem. In my case, it turned out to be a McAfee AV program which was causing the spurious window to open and the program wasn't required. So, when I terminated it, the window STOPPED opening. One thing for sure - if you use MSCONFIG and un-check things, you can always turn them back on when you find the culprit.
