    Different footer last page (2002)

    I am trying to insert a signature block on the bottom of every page of a document except for the last one. I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone assist.

    Thanks.

    Place the signature block inside an IF field.
    - View the footer.
    - Make the footer look the example below
    - Field brackets { } must NOT be typed directly, but inserted using Ctrl+F9.
    - When done, press Alt+F9 twice.

    { If { Pages } = { NumPages } "" "Signature block here" }

    The signature block can be more than one line.

    If you insert a next page section break just before the last page, you should be able to get this right. Section breaks allow for different page setup within each section! (This includes headers and footers)
    Once you insert the header and footer after you have the section break added, move to the last page and deselect the "Same as previous" button on the Header/Footer toolbar and then delete the footer on the last page.

    As you've no doubt already seen, there is no 'different last page' header setting available in page setup.

    Assuming that you can't make use of a section break to set off the last page of the document, there's still a way to make something appear in all of the headers or footers for every page, except the last page of the document, by using a combination of fields:

    { IF { PAGE * MERGEFORMAT } < { NUMPAGES * MERGEFORMAT } {AUTOTEXT SigBlock * MERGEFORMAT } * MERGEFORMAT }

    The above assumes that you've saved the signature block you need as an autotext named 'SigBlock'.

    Also, the brackets in the above example cannot be typed in directly, you need to either insert the fields via Insert > Field, or enter the needed pairs of field brackets using Ctl + F9.

    Thank you so much for your replies. The one that I found worked was the response from Gary with the < Numpages. Worked like a dream.
