    Timeout (97 sr2)

Is there anyway you can put a timeout on a database? What we the database to close if it has not had any activity in a set amount of time. We have problems with our users leaving the database open all the time.
    Thanks for any help

Your request is a fairly common one - and there have been a number of threads on the subject in the recent past. Take a look at the threads beginning with <post#=412959>post 412959</post#>, <post#=345693>post 345693</post#>, <post#=351800>post 351800</post#> and <post#=361109>post 361109</post#>. In those threads you will find there are a couple of ways of attacking the problem, and some issues you may well encounter. One of the most significant is where a user starts entering a record, is interrupted and then you close the database. That would typically result in some sort of garbage record unless validation errors occur. Error handling is where things get tricky.
